Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez haven’t formally announced a divorce, but many fans remain convinced it’s over between the couple.
Now, a new report seemingly sheds insight into why it didn’t work out, placing blame on Ben’s alleged addiction.
During an episode of Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered, famous celebrity blogger and columnist Perez Hilton shared his theory, presenting what he believes to be the “best case scenario” regarding the pair’s alleged divorce.
Hilton suggested that Affleck may have experienced a relapse.
Perez Hilton Thinks Affleck Is In Rehab
Hilton elaborated, stating, “The public doesn’t really know what’s going on with Affleck and Lopez but the romantic in me has a theory which is my best case scenario.”
He continued, “And that is that Ben, who has openly struggled with addiction, might have suffered a relapse and Jen, out of love, said I want to give you space to just focus on getting better.”
Reports claiming Ben and J.Lo are living separately have been circulating for weeks, fueled by Lopez’s solo appearances at the Met Gala and her recent Atlas movie premiere. Ben is allegedly the only who moved out of their $60 million mega mansion. But as Perez’s theory suggests, it’s possible the pair are apart so Ben can get help and focus on himself.
It would also explain why he’s been avoiding red carpet appearances, though there are simultaneous reports that he’s throwing himself into his latest project, The Accountant 2.
According to Hilton, the mansion where Affleck is reportedly living at the moment could potentially be functioning as a “treatment facility” for his recovery, although the blogger emphasized this is simply a theory and remains unconfirmed.
Ben’s Addiction Led To His Divorce From Jennifer Garner
Ben previously admitted his personal demons contributed to his divorce from Jennifer Garner, explaining their split led to him get help for his drinking. Garner was even seen driving her ex to rehab following their divorce announcement.
“Anyone who’s been through divorce makes that calculus of, ‘How much do we try?’ We loved each other. We care about each other. We have respect for each other,” Affleck explained, in response to backlash from fans who thought he blamed Garner for his increase in drinking towards the end of their marria.
“I was trying to say, ‘Hey, look, I was drinking too much, and the less happy you become, whether it’s your job, your marriage, it’s just that as your life becomes more difficult, if you’re doing things to fill a hole that aren’t healthy, you’re going to start doing more of those things.’ I think I was pretty articulate about that,’” he went on.
Lopez and Affleck haven’t comment on the state of their marriage, despite the various reports though they did make a joint appearance at his daughter Violet’s graduation party, giving fans some bleak hope they’re trying to work through things.
