Sharon Stone and Liam Neeson Defend Kevin Spacey, Want Him Acting Again

After Kevin Spacey was cleared of his abuse charges in the United Kingdom, several celebrities came out to share their joy and their desire to see the actor back on screen.

Sharon Stone, Liam Neeson, and Murray Abraham are among the more prominent ones.

The House of Cards star has been planning his comeback ever since before the verdict in his favor, and it seems he still has a few important allies in the entertainment industry.

The celebrities backing him up carry a lot of weight in show business, so a Kevin Spacey comeback might be happening sooner than expected.

Sharon Stone was particularly excited to hear the verdict that cleared Kevin Spacey of the charges against him and expressed her love and admiration for the actor.

“I can’t wait to see Kevin back at work. He is a genius. He is so elegant and fun, generous to a fault, and knows more about our craft than most of us ever will,” she gushed to The Telegraph. She then went on to slam the people who accused him. “It’s terrible that they are blaming him for not being able to come to terms with themselves for using him and negotiating with themselves because they didn’t get their secret agendas.”

Liam Neeson spoke up as well, saying the entertainment industry lost a lot when he stopped working. “I was deeply saddened to learn of these accusations against him. Kevin is a good man and a man of character. He’s sensitive, articulate, and non-judgmental, with a terrific sense of humour. He is also one of our finest artists in the theatre and on camera. Personally speaking, our industry needs him and misses him greatly.”

Murray Abraham’s words were a little more ambiguous. While he defended him as a friend and actor, he seemed to imply that Kevin Spacey was guilty of unacceptable behavior, but should be forgiven because he deeply regrets it.

“I vouch for him unequivocally. Who are these vultures who attack a man who has publicly accepted his responsibility for certain behavior, unlike so many others?” the Oscar-winner claimed. “He is a fine man, I stand with him, and let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

Kevin Spacey was found “not guilty” of his charges of sexual assault after his UK trial last year, and there has been talk of a comeback ever since. The actor spoke with the press after the verdict, sharing his relief and happiness, but was too overwhelmed to say much.

“I imagine many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today,” he said. “I am humbled by the outcome.”

He spoke right before the trial, however, and said that he was planning a comeback and already had a few options lined up.

“I know that there are people right now who are ready to hire me the moment I am cleared of these charges in London,” the actor shared. “The second that happens, they’re ready to move forward.”
